Personal Computer

The first computer by Apple
A personal computer is a computer which is designed for personal use for the user and this blog is going to show the timeline between the personal computers and there advancements in technology.

In 1977 a man called Steve jobs created the company apple who we know so well today and he created the first computer designed for gaming capabilities but was very limited and it was called the apple 1 computer and its capabilities were very limited, it had only a 4 kilabyte memory, it had very limited colour display device and if you had the money could be upgraded using third party software and this is what made personal computers very success full because you could upgrade the computer as time went on and keep the technological advancements.

Prince of Persia
And when the first computer came out from apple the games you could play on this personal computer was called the prince of persia and mystery house and all these became successful and spurred the movement for computer gaming.

and later through the years apple also introduced the apple 2 computer which had higher specifications than the pervious model and could and do more powerful things on the computing system.

IBM computer
In the early 1980's a company called IBM came in to the computer market and set the bench mark for the computer gaming and when the produced there first computer called the IBM personal computer, but because of the introduction to Boise software for the IBM computers which is used in every computer today was soon stolen from them and they lost out on the computer market because other companies were stealing there ideas and the products software. and this computer was designed with power and technology in mind for example it had a 4.77 MHz CPU and had a 16 Kilobyte memory and could be upgrade to a 256 Kilobyte memory, also it was the first computer to be sold with a monitor and a keyboard all in working order and was able to play multiple games on the computer but had to be installed which could take up to a few hours.

Commodore pet
In the late 1980's a company called commodore soon came in to the computer market with the introduction of the commodore pet which had a built in monitor display and had only limited power, it used a 1 MHz processor compared to the IBM computer which used a 4.77 MHz processor but had a new feature to the rest of computers where it could play floppy dick drives which were a form of media storage and it also had a 4 kilobyte to 98 Kilobyte memory upgrade.

But later during that decade, the company also introduced the commodore C64 version which was slight more powerful than its predecessor which was the Commodore PET and also the new and improved version had a 64 Kilobyte memory system. And thanks to the inroduction of the commodore computer this later paved the way for future game developers

Sinclair computer
Later during that decade, In 1982 - 1992 a company called sinclair research developed a computer console that was sold with multiple computer games already pragrammed in to the computer and was the front line of gaming on computers which lead to modern day gaming computer technology today.

And this computer was designed with new and multiple features for example, it had 3 different RAM storages, and were a 16 Kb system, 48 Kb system and 128 Kb system and compare this to the first generation computer the IBM this was by far the less powerful model yet it could do much more on capabilites and also could play multiple games on the console compared to the IBM console, also the computer wasnt sold with any hardware devices such as a computer monitor or printer, and had to be seperatly bought for the sinclair computer to work.

In the 1989 the company IBM introduced a new revolutionised computer which just showed how complex and powerful comptures could be come over the years, they introduced a computer called the personal system/2 and was so technologically advanced it had a new and never before seen 25Mhz processing unit and a stagering 1.44 Mb RAM and also introduced the new VGA colour scheme for computer displays and all other computer displays to come.

and also thanks to the introduction of the revolutionised computer, it paved the way for new hardware devices to be made for the computers giving better control and better game play for some games that could be played on the computers, also it helped devolope the mouse and keyboard which rather than being built in to the system they could be purchased seperatly and connected to the computer.

and as computers became more and more powerful with more complex and pwer processing units being able to process more information at anyone time it paved the way for flight simulation games and racing simulation games.

now when comparing the modern day games consoles to the PC you will find that PC's are by far the poweful unit for gaming and just general use, and can do multiple task depending on the hardwar and software of the computer, but compare this to the modern games console, there very limited, because games consoles carnt be upgrade as new software and hardware comes out through the years, also the gaming graphics and graphic speed of gaame consoles are limited to game computers and this is because PC's have powerful processing units than game consoles, also the motherboard used to hold the hardware components is so complex and well designed it can cope with more information than games consoles and this is why game consoles always lack in technology when comparing to the modern day PC and even when looking back at older generation gaame consoles and PC's you will find out that the some of the first computers designed were already past the power and technological capabilities of gaming consoles which is why PC's are chosen by most people when wanting to play games and have the gaming experience because of graphic content.

and when looking at the modern day consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360 these consoles have started to adapt and use PC hardware because evening gaming companies know that there consoles will always be out matched in hardware and this is why modern consoles try to adapt this technology becayse they want there game consoles to compete with PC's for example, the processin unit inside the PS3 and Xbox 360 has a 3.7 Ghz processor and most modern computers have the same if not more processing power, but the one thing that game consoles lack is the video memory and video raphics unit and this is because consoles are limited to the size and capabilites which is why modern game console only have a video memory storage unit of 256 MB of information at anyone time, but when compared to the PC and there video memory you can have up to 3 GB's of video memory making graphic and rendering times mich faster and clearer than games consoles.
